VIP Tone Acquires Web 2.0 Website for Teachers
Almeda, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- Today VIP Tone announced the acquisition of WeTheTeachers.com (WeTheTeachers), a Web 2.0 social networking and educational content sharing website for teachers. WeTheTeachers.com allows teachers from all over the world to search its database by subject area and grade level and to download lessons, educational resources and tools for free. It provides tools for its users to author, store and share educational content and best practices. Members can rate and discuss each other's content and can work collaboratively across the globe through special interest groups and discussion forums.
WeTheTeachers was initially developed in 2005 by Nate and Amy Chambers, a husband and wife team at Stanford University. A teacher herself, Amy had the need and desire to share resources with other teachers. Nate, a Computer Science PhD student, was able to build the website to help out his wife. The two of them were able to launch WeTheTeachers and facilitate global teacher collaboration by early 2006 when MySpace and Facebook were just getting started. WeTheTeachers quickly expanded its membership and now has thousands of members from over 28 countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.

Today VIP Tone will announce the three winners of the Apple iTouch Giveaway Contest, which aims to encourage teachers to join the WeTheTeachers.com Community's membership and to contribute their original work to its free content repository.
VIP Tone also intends to offer a free Community Edition of its popular School MATRIX® Platform to the EduTone Community, thereby increasing the quantity and improving the quality of free lesson plans on the site.
